Ponniyin Selvan Movie OTT Release Date: Ponniyin Selvan: I, also known as The Son of Ponni, is a 2022 Indian Tamil-language epic historical action drama film that was written by Elango Kumaravel and B. Jeyamohan and was directed by Mani Ratnam. It is the first of two film adaptations of Kalki Krishnamurthy’s 1955 novel Ponniyin Selvan, and it was produced by Ratnam and Subaskaran Allirajah under the banners of Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, Jayaram, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Prabhu, R. Sarathkumar, Vikram Prabhu, Prakash Raj, Rahman, R. Storyline/ Plot

Under the leadership of Emperor Sundara Chozhar in Thanjavur during the tenth century, the Chola dynasty ruled prosperously in South India. Aditha Karikalan and Arulmozhi Varman, also known as Ponniyin Selvan, are leading the empire’s conquests of Kanchi and Lanka, respectively. Aditha Karikalan notices something is wrong with the courtiers and sends his buddy, the prince of the Vaanar Clan, Vallavaraiyan Vandiyadevan, to look into it. He then informs his sister, Princess Kundavai, and Sundara Chozhar about the situation. When Vandiyadevan arrives at the Kadamboor fortress, he overhears the plot being carried out by the treasurer and minister of finance, Periya Pazhuvettaraiyar, along with other ministers, to prevent Aditha Karikalan from assuming the throne and replace him with his uncle Madurantaka Chola.

Vandiyadevan frequently met with Azhwarkadiyan Nambi, a Vaishnavite, who he sees in the stronghold watching the meeting. Vandiyadevan approaches Nambi on a boat after escaping the fortress. Nambi admits that he was there to meet his foster sister Nandini, who mysteriously left the house during his absence and eventually wed the much older Periya Pazhuvettaraiyar. When Vandiyedavan tells Pazhuvettaraiyar’s wife Nandini that he wishes to convey Nambi’s message to her, Nandini invites him to meet her at her building and gives him her ring for access to the royal palace. Vandiyedavan meets with Chinna Pazhuvettaraiyar, the fort’s commander, and tells Sundara Chozhar about the conspiracy.

However, Chinna Pazhuvettaraiyar, Pazhuvettaraiyar’s younger brother, intervenes and makes an attempt to apprehend Vandiyedavan. However, he escapes and meets Kundavai, the sister of Aditha Karikalan, through Nandini. Nandini instructs him to deliver her response to her first before going to Aditha Karikalan.
